Congratulations, Class of 2016
A message from your Class Guardians
Dearest Matrics of 2016,
At your final assembly on 7 October, which was presented to a packed and excited auditorium, it was confirmed why each one of you was such a firm favourite with teachers and students alike during your high school career.
You presented a tribute and an “Oscar” award to each matric teacher who was part of your arduous, yet rewarding, final journey this year. The concept of nominating various teachers in a variety of categories was both humorous and reverent. As each presenter (you guys, of course) awarded the coveted statuette to individual teachers, it was clear that you know your teachers and their idiosyncrasies very well. “Best Hair” winner (Mr. Hoffe) and “Most brutally honest teacher” (Mr. Art) were particularly graceful in accepting their awards. However, what stood out most for everyone during your final assembly was the respect, validation and love that shone through each small “thank you” speech addressed to your matric teachers. It certainly shows your level of maturity and that you ready for adulthood and the world outside the school gates.
Matrics, on behalf of the school, all the teachers that guided you over the years and your matric teachers, we say thank you for your kindness and humour towards us. We wish you all of the very best for your future endeavours and always remember the values that you were taught at our beloved school.
With much kindness,

Meneer

- Nathan Jones achieved seven distinctions: English, isiZulu, Mathematics, Life Science, Physical Science, Geography, Life Orientation. He obtained 76% for Advanced Programme Mathematics. Nathan was placed in the IEB top 5% on aggregate and the top 1% for English and Geography.
- Stephanie Cookson achieved six distinctions: Afrikaans, Drama, English, Geography, History, Maths Literacy;
- Michelle Gill achieved six distinctions: Afrikaans, English, Geography, Life Orientation, Life Sciences, Mathematics;

We are proud of all our students who also achieved distinctions.
Michael Mount offers much more than a good matric. Our unique Waldorf curriculum allows each pupil to develop as an individual. We see it in action when we review our matric results every year. We are very proud of all our students for their academic achievements but more than that we know that, in the words of Rudolf Steiner, they leave our school “[as] free human beings who are able of themselves to impart purpose and direction to their lives“.
Congratulations, dear Class of 2016! We wish you everything of the best as you go forward in life.
