A message from your Class Guardians

Dear Class of 2020

What a year we have had. If anyone had told us in January that we would experience what we did, we would have laughed at them derisively. However, it is clear that this journey was meant to be travelled by us and, while we were not the Fellowship of the Ring, we climbed the slopes of Mount Doom and reached the summit together. As your guardians, we could not have wished for a more able group of companions.

Your resilience, unreserved support, co-operation and ‘awesome’ have been so greatly appreciated by both of us. We know, without doubt, that you will carry these lessons with you forever and that you will be more mature, more resilient and more ready for the next stage of your lives because of what you have taken from 2020. We would like to thank you for allowing us to care for you, support you and nurture you as much as possible this year. We are honoured to know you and we would like to wish you every success moving forward. Alfred, Lord Tennyson, would approve of us assigning these words, from Ulysses to you: “we are one equal temper of heroic hearts … strong in will, to strive, to seek, to find, and not to yield.” Until we meet again…

Much love,

Michael Mount does not focus solely on our students leaving school with a good matric. Our unique curriculum encourages each of our students to excel as individuals in a range of fields, so that they may go into the world as “free human beings who are able of themselves to impart purpose and direction to their lives.” ~ Rudolf Steiner. Subsequently, we take this moment not only to celebrate all our students’ impressive academic achievements, but also the well-rounded, confident human beings they have grown into throughout the course of their schooling.

Congratulations, Class of 2020! We wish you all the best in your future endeavours, whatever they may be.
